Frequently Asked Questions

Diverse group of focused modern learners collaborating in a modern study space
Is SEC right for my child?
SEC works well for:
  • Homeschooling families who want a structured curriculum with real teacher support
  • Families outside the big cities who want quality teaching at home
  • Athletes, performers and travellers who need school to fit around their schedule
  • Learners who need to catch up or move ahead at their own pace
What happens after I enquire?
You book a free consultation, where we explain our programmes and answer your questions. We then book your child's baseline assessment, go through the results with you in a feedback session, and send you the registration form.
How much does it cost?
Registration is a once-off R1,500 (R1,350 per child for 2+). Monthly tuition for GED and Grade R to Grade 10 is R1,800. American High School Diploma fees are shared on enquiry. The baseline assessment (usually R500) and your first month's tuition are free.
Is the qualification recognised?
Yes. Our programmes are internationally accredited and recognised in South Africa and abroad. We explain exactly what this means for your child during your free consultation.
Can my child go to university in South Africa?
Yes. To study for a bachelor's degree, learners with an American High School Diploma need an exemption certificate from Universities South Africa (USAf). This usually means good results plus a qualifying test such as the SAT, ACT or AP exams. GED learners can also go to university, usually with one extra step. Every learner's route is a little different, so we take you through it in your free consultation.
How will I know how my child is doing?
Every learner gets daily supervision and support, and parents receive a monthly progress report.
What does my child need to get started?
A laptop or tablet, a stable internet connection and a quiet place to work.
